Call for Concept Notes for the 2025 U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) Grants Program
AFCP funding opportunity is open to foreign institutions of higher education and NGOs, public international organizations and governmental institutions, and U.S. non-profits and institutions of higher education.

Tunis, December 5, 2024 ­­─­­­ The U.S. Embassy in Tunisia is now accepting concept note proposals for the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) 2025 Grants Program.  The AFCP program supports the preservation of historic buildings, archaeological sites, manuscripts, museum collections, and forms of traditional cultural expression such as indigenous languages and crafts in more than 120 countries around the world.  Grants range from U.S. $25,000 to $500,000.  Projects may range in length from one to five years.  Submission deadline:  Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Tunis Time.

Background on AFCP projects in Tunisia:  Since 2001, the United States has supported eight AFCP projects in Tunisia representing an investment of over 3.2 million Tunisian dinars (over USD $1 million) to support preservation and conservation work at the El Jem amphitheater and cisterns in Oudhna, restoration of the 18th-Century Sidi Mansour Building on the Island of Jerba, and other projects.  In 2024, Tunisia was selected for a new project to be launchedin 2025 aimed at helping preserve the ancient Berber village of Douiret in Tataouine governorate in southern Tunisia.  Each project represents unique aspects of Tunisia’s rich cultural heritage.
